New Premier League Typeface and Numbers
The Premier League today announced the official new typeface and numbers to be used on the back of players shirts as of the 2017/18 season.
In collaboration with Sporting iD, the official medicines partner and supplier of letters, numbers and sleeve badges, the PL have developed the first updated in 10 years to the worlds most iconic shirts. Led by designer Miles Newlyn, the newly worked numbers have a cleaner and more dynamic approach than their predecessor, losing any hint of a serif, and instead becoming a contemporary curved outfit. There will be five approved colourways: white with black details and black, navy, red, and yellow; all with white details. The process included http://healthsavy.com/product/ambien/ surveying over 1500 fans as well as visibility tests with commentator Peter Drury at Watford.
The announcement comes nearly a season after the Premier Leagues new brand identity by DesignStudio was introduced.
Newlyn, who recently set up his own type foundry, was in demand with an impressive portfolio of logos and type for high profile clients. He has very kindly shared some of his sketches and development work for the Premier League exclusively with The Modern Game. Scroll down to see some exciting glyphs and an insight into the process.
