Every football club’s supporters deserve an unofficial merchandise producer as astute and edgy as Eighteen86.
The bootleg Arsenal site opens to the reception of real fans celebrating in unadulterated glory in and around the Emirates, a far cry from a sterile photoshoot for any clubs official “casual wear”. Click through to the shop and you’ll see their refreshingly retro and punchy clothing with its own distinct branding unmarred by crests, guns or anything too clean. The fact it’s so aesthetically pleasing in its own manner would make it hard to accuse what are clearly honest and diehard Arsenal fans of copyright infringement. They’re doing it for the team they love. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have their tongues in their cheeks when it comes to producing the gunners gear. The “about” section of the site proudly reads;
“100% UNOFFICIAL ARSENAL GEAR FROM N5
100% HAND PRINTED IN ENGLAND
100% AWAITING LAWSUIT FROM KROENKE
FOR ALL OF OUR ARSENAL FAMILY OVER LAND AND SEA“
Branded in a luddite like blackletter type, like the footballing stereotype of old the home made element feels like the fashion version of a football fan zine executed to perfection.
